Designing Flexible Performance Spaces

Red Mountain Theatre’s main theatre has reconfigurable seating (to accommodate both traditional and cabaret), and an orchestra pit that allows for different stage elevations or a 15-piece orchestra. 

Over the years, we have designed over 100 performance and worship venues. The primary trend in recent years has been towards flexible design to permit a wide range of uses in one space. Most new facilities’ functional requirements create a unique opportunity for numerous Collaborative Environments and LIVE Experiences for guests.

As organizations gain more and better access to technology, we’re seeing more interactive and digital media being used, in almost limitless ways…

So power and data infrastructure needs have changed to support the work.

A part of above, flexibility is key.

So flexibility in space, lighting control, acoustics, etc., to accommodate fewer permanent installations, and more rotating shows.

Even pre-COVID, outdoor spaces were becoming more important. We have designed some facilities that have event spaces outdoors, providing both an experience, and outdoor access.
